Danie van Aswegen

Danie van Aswegen is a senior mining executive with nearly 30 years of experience in mining operations, project development, technology integration, and business transformation. As Interim CEO and COO of Bannerman Energy, he is leading the development of a greenfield uranium project in Namibia, managing the strategic, operational, and technical challenges associated with bringing a world-class asset into production. Throughout his career within the broader Anglo American Group, Danie has built a strong track record of delivering large-scale mining projects and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams through periods of growth, change, and operational excellence. During his recent tenure at Debmarine Namibia, he directed a multi-billion-NAD project portfolio encompassing technology development, innovation, fleet enhancement, and complex capital projects. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Stellenbosch University and a Master of Engineering (Project Management) from the University of Pretoria. He has further strengthened his leadership expertise through executive education at leading international institutions, including the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School and the Advanced Management Programme at IESE Business School. As a certified PMP and GCC holder, Danie combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to deliver sustainable value and long-term business success.
